In Los Angeles, if you're looking for a wine tasting adventure or vineyard tour, thoughts turn to the famed Napa Valley region in northern California.

Well, you don't have to go that far or spend that much to have the Napa experience within an hour of downtown L.A.

Malibu has become the home to more than 18 vineyards, with picturesque weather and reasonable space.In all, there are only 150 acres of vineyards in Malibu, but in the town known for celebrity residences and trendy, luxurious homes, vineyards are... in.

Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Temecula and other areas are home to southern California wineries and vineyards, but with the growth of Malibu's wine production, quadrupling in a few short years, attention has turned to the mountain town by the beach.

Wine Sales

Malibu residents love their wine, especially when it comes from their own back yard. Malibu Village Wines in Malibu Country Mart sells a number of wines made from Malibu grapes and produced close by.

Mark Neal, who runs Malibu Village Wines, has seen a sizable increase in Malibu wine making.

He says more than 18 known working vineyards exist in the hills, but that many more people have private vineyards on their property.
